Operator and scope
These terms cover use of coastalhomeiq.com, its articles and browser-based planning tools. Publisher: Coastal Home IQ, a publication owned by Bill Schum. Contact: [email protected]. References to “we,” “us” and “our” mean Coastal Home IQ. Coastal Home IQ is a publication; it is not the contractor carrying out your construction project.
Educational information
The website provides general homeowner information. It is not a property inspection, engineering assessment, architectural design, legal opinion, code determination, permit approval, binding estimate or professional advice for a particular property. Confirm requirements with the applicable authority and obtain appropriate professional advice before making project decisions.
Tools and estimates
Our project planner organizes questions and priorities. It does not calculate prices or determine product suitability, structural condition, contractor qualifications or permit requirements. Future calculators must identify their assumptions, sources, date and limitations. Any example or estimate is informational unless a separate written agreement expressly says otherwise.
Contractor relationships and transactions
Bill Schum owns Coastal Home IQ and works as Marketing Director at Contract Exteriors. Review our Disclosures page and any disclosure attached to particular content. Reading a guide, using a planner or following a link does not create a construction contract or guarantee an appointment, financing, warranty or project result. Third-party services are governed by agreements made directly with those providers.
Permitted use and intellectual property
You may read, share links to, and print reasonable portions of the site for your personal, noncommercial project planning, subject to applicable law and any asset-specific notice. Do not misrepresent authorship, remove ownership notices or reproduce substantial portions commercially without permission or another lawful basis. Third-party trademarks, source materials and photographs remain subject to their owners’ rights.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site unlawfully; attempt unauthorized access; introduce malicious code; impersonate another person; disrupt availability; or use automated requests that materially interfere with the service. These terms do not limit rights that applicable law gives you.

We aim to provide useful information, but content can contain errors or become outdated. Product specifications, local requirements, costs and project conditions can change. Drafts are identified and should not be treated as reviewed final guidance. We may revise or remove content or tools and cannot promise continuous availability.
